In 2001, Nova Scotia launched a comprehensive tobacco strategy. It includes smoke-free places legislation, help for people who want to quit, curriculum for schools, and a social marketing campaign.
Smoking was officially banned in all indoor public areas, workplaces, and outdoor eating and drinking establishments on December 1, 2006.
Statistic show our efforts are working. Significantly fewer young Nova Scotians are smoking today.
